The Chevrolet Traverse is a midsize SUV that was first released on 2009. Sales have been steadily increasing in the US since 2012 and it sold almost 150,000 units in 2019. Another redesign is expected for the 2022 model.

The Traverse is available for 2020 in six trim levels: L, LS, LT, RS, Premier and High Country. It has a 3.6-liter V6 engine with 9-speed automatic transmission, and options for FWD and AWD. It is marketed as an attractive family car with seating for up to 8 passengers, a good safety rating, and family-friendly features such a Rear Seat Reminder and Teen Driver Technology.

Complaints about the Traverse have declined since the 2012 model year when it addressed engine problems that had plagued earlier models, however, it still generates significant recalls and complaints. The Tahoe transmission is a persistent source of trouble. Owners report problems both with shifting gear while driving, causing loss of power, and when shifting to park, a problem seen in multiple Chevrolet models, which prevents the car from turning off. Complaints about defective power steering and side detection warning system are frequent, particularly in 2016 models. Recent recalls relate to malfunctioning airbags, windshield wipers and the vehicle framing (2016; 2019; 2020.)
