Ford Mustang Vibration Problem Persists

What is causing vibration problems in Ford Mustangs?

This blog recently reported about vibration problems in GM trucks and SUVs, including the popular Chevy Silverado. While the company attributed the problem to a variety of factors, including the larger size of the interior, the problems continue.

GM is not the only automaker facing complaints of vibration problems, however, as there have also been numerous reports of consumer complaints from owners of 2015-2017 Ford Mustangs. These owners claim that a variety of Mustangs experience severe vibration, particularly when driving between 55 and 75 miles per hour.

Numerous Mustang owners have taken their cars back to the dealers for repairs. In many cases, the problem was initially linked to faulty drive shafts, which were replaced, sometimes more than once. And still the vibration problems persisted. Other Mustang owners were told the tires either need to be rotated and balanced or replaced. These fixes did not resolve the problem either.

One driver in particular waited two months for his vehicle to be repaired, during the convertible season when he first purchased the car. Another owner complained that the vibration was so severe that the rear view mirror image is blurred while driving. At the end of the day, the vibration problems have been left unresolved.

Meanwhile some owners have been told by Ford customer service reps. that the vibration is “normal” and that no repairs are needed. Now, some observers have questioned whether there is a design flaw in the drive line or other defective parts that the Ford Motor Company knows about. Others are speculating that the Ford Mustang was designed to vibrate so that the driver’s body shakes while driving.

In the end, these vehicle vibrations are not normal, and if left unrepaired can cause other damage to a vehicle. The fact that Mustang owners haven’t been satisfied isn’t surprising, given the fact that automakers often put profits ahead of their customers. That’s the bad news. The good news is that Ford Mustang owners have legal recourse. If your vehicle is experiencing vibrations while driving, you are well advised to contact an experienced consumer law attorney.
