The F-line is currently the best selling vehicle model in the nation. Let’s hope Ford improves the quality, safety and efficiency of the F-150, however, since the popular pick-up truck has been dogged by defects over the years. If you own or lease a Ford F-150 that has been in for numerous repairs while under the manufacturer’s warranty, you may have a lemon on your hands. We will also conduct an investigation to determine if Ford has issued technical service bulletins or recalls in connection with the defect affecting your F-150. Regardless of the value of your claim, we will provide you with first-rate legal representation and fight to protect your rights.

Ford F-150 Recalls

Despite the fact that the F-150 is Ford’s flagship pickup truck, there have been numerous recalls over the years:
In September 2018, Ford Motor Company announced the recall of nearly 2 million F-150s in connection with a seat belt defect that could cause vehicle fires. The recall covers 1.995 million model year 2015-2018 F-150 pickup trucks in North America, including 1.619 million in the U.S. The move came in response to an investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) into reports of fires dues to the defect. Ford claims it has identified at least 23 reports of smoke or fire-related to the defect, but no accidents or injuries have been reported. The defect involves front-seat pretensioners that can generate excessive sparks when they deploy, triggering a fire. Dealers have been instructed to replace the seat belt pretensioners

In April 2018, Ford announced the recall of 350,000 model year 2018 F-150s and Expeditions dues to faulty transmission gears. A defective clip that locks the gear shift cable to the transmission could result in the car shifting into a gear the driver has not chosen, such as from Park to Drive, which could cause a roll-away accident if the emergency brake is not engaged. Ford instructed dealers to inspect the defective gear shift clips and replace them as necessary.

In July 2018, Ford announced the recall of certain 2018 model year F-150 trucks for a potential fuel or oil leak. Vehicles equipped with 3.5-liter GTDI V6 engines have high-pressure fuel pump assemblies with defective welds. If the welds fracture, an oil or fuel leak can occur. Dealers have been instructed to replace the high-pressure fuel pump and associated components.
