New Jersey & Pennsylvania Cadilliac Car Defect Attorney

Cadillac is the top-line luxury brand brand of General Motors which markets these vehicles in the United States and across the world. Cadillac is also one of the oldest automobile brands in the Nation with a rich history. In fact, it was named after the founder of Detroit, Michigan, Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac, and the crest that adorns each vehicle is based on his coat of arms. The automobile is an iconic symbol of success, and has even made its mark on the Nation’s culture by being featured in many popular songs. Despite its sterling reputation, however, Cadillac models have experienced numerous problems that have led to recalls.

At Timothy Abeel & Associates, we know that you’ve worked hard to be in a position to drive a Cadillac, and believe that these vehicles should perform up to high standards. If your Cadillac has defects that have gone unrepaired after multiple attempts, we will leverage our knowledge and skill to enforce your rights.

Common Cadillac Problems

Cadillac models such as the Cadillac Deville, Cadillac Seville, Cadillac CTS, and the Cadillac Escalade have all experienced problems over the years. Some of the most common problems with the DeVille, for example, have been engine-related with many prone to burning oil. Owners have had to routinely add oil to keep the engine running, while other have had had to replace the intake and/or exhaust manifolds. Additionally, numerous transmission problems have been reported with the Seville, from transmission fluid leaks to transmission failures. Meanwhile, the Escalade has experienced brake system failures, powertrain malfunctions, and exhaust and emission problems, among others.

Cadillac Recalls

A variety of Cadillacs have experienced ongoing problems that led to recalls.

  • In July 2017, GM recalled over 40,000 model year 2015-2106 Cadillac Escalades due to a defect in the airbag sensing and diagnostic module software. The glitch could prevent proper deployment of the airbags and seat belt pretensioners in an accident, increasing the risk of injury. Dealers were instructed to perform the necessary software update.
  • Earlier that year GM recalled certain model year 2015-2017 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESVs due to a similar software problem that could prevent the front airbags from inflating in a crash and impairing vehicle seat belts from functioning properly. Dealers were instructed reprogram or replace the software.
  • In November 2016, GM announced the recall of approximately 1,800 model year 2017 Cadillac XT5 SUVs due to a defective brake issue. The front brake calipers had torn or misaligned caliper piston seals that could lead to brake fluid leaks. This could reduce brake performance and increase the risk of an accident. GM instructed dealers to inspect and replace the brake caliper assemblies as needed.
  • In September 2016, GM recalled 97,000 model year 2013-2016 Cadillac ATS vehicles due to defective rear window defrosters. In the sedans and coupes, the coil antenna module in the defroster could overheat and cause the driver’s side vertical support to catch fire. Dealers were instructed to reprogram the defroster module. Additionally, the ATS had previously been subject to recalls for illegal sunroof switches, loose seats, faulty seat belts and transmission cable problems.
  • In June 2015, GM recalled over 2,000 Cadillac CTS vehicles due to a brake defect. The bracket between the brake pedal assembly and the rod that causes the brake to function could fracture during normal operation. This could result in brake failure, increasing the risk of accidents and injuries. Dealers were instructed to inspect the brake pedal assembly and replace the defective brackets.
