Honda introduced the Pilot midsize SUV in 2002 as part of its 2003 model year lineup. The Pilot is Honda’s largest SUV and is manufactured and sold primarily for the US market.
The current third-generation Pilot was released as a 2016 model, but the SUV received a significant facelift for the 2019 model year, including changes to:
- Nine-speed transmission
- Start-stop system
- Exterior bumpers, grille, wheels, headlights, taillights, and tailgate.
- An instrument panel and infotainment system similar to those in the Honda Odyssey minivan.
About 150,000 Pilots are sold annually in the US. The 2019 and 2020 Honda Pilot has generated official recalls and numerous complaints filed with the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration.
