The Kia Telluride is a midsize crossover SUV from South Korean automanufacturer, Kia Corporation, and only available in the U.S.A. It was first released with the 2020 model, and quickly became one of the highest rated SUVs in its segment, selling an impressive 75,129 units in the U.S. in 2020. It has won a variety of awards, including 2020 World Car of the Year, 2020 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year, and 2020 MotorTrend SUV of the Year.
The 2021 Telluride is available in four trims: LX, S, EX, SX. It has three-row 7-passenger seating, a 3.8L V6 engine, 8-speed automatic transmission, FWD as standard (AWD optional,) and a towing capacity of 5,000lbs. It is built on a similar platform to its corporate sibling, the Hyundai Palisade, and the two SUVs are often compared by buyers and critics. The 2021 Telluride has a starting MSRP of $32,190, however, its popularity has increased demand for the vehicle so much that it has driven the market price up by as much as $18,000 at some dealerships.
Despite its popularity and high ratings, Kia Telluride problems have disappointed many customers looking for a reliable, safe, and affordable SUV. One of the most common complaints regarding Kia Telluride issues is defective windshields. Of the 166 complaints about the 2020 Telluride registered with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 98 complaints relate to visibility/windshield issues. Owners report that the windshield cracks, chips, and fractures easily, often requiring complete replacement of the windshield within months of buying the vehicle. Kia is aware of the problem, and sent some owners a letter to offer a free replacement windshield if repairs were needed, but has refused to issue a Kia Telluride recall. Multiple other complaints about the vehicle relate to Kia Telluride transmission problems, the collision warning systems, and heating and cooling systems.  A safety recall affecting over 30,000 vehicles was issued in August 2019 because Telluride seat assemblies may not properly secure a child car seat. There have also been numerous owner complaints about Kia Telluride engine problems. Some of the top reported bad experience examples throughout the years include these cars being unable to start because of ignition issues, poor oil pressure, small leaks from the exhaust, and other auto issues that make driving difficult or dangerous.
